Heaven’s door in Catskills: Hotel Dylan comes to Woodstock
by Jennifer Gould Keill of the New York Post
Hotel Dylan opened in Woodstock this past weekend, adding a touch of funky glamour to the upscale Catskills town.
Owner Paul Covello bought the property a year ago and then renovated it — enlisting the creative design duo of Bob and Cortney Novogratz.
“My wife and I were big fans of their show [HGTV’s ‘Home by Novogratz’],” Covello said. “We thought they’d fit in well here and they did.”
Bob Novogratz said the design aesthetic for the hotel “evokes everything that’s great” about film director/screenwriter Wes Anderson’s style.
“We took a page from his whimsical humor in ‘Moonrise Kingdom’ for an ode to such a classic American town like Woodstock,” Bob Novogratz said.
The 11-room hotel includes a two-level, 6,500 square-foot restaurant space — and Covello is actively scouting restaurateurs. The space, which seats around 130, includes a bar and cafe area plus an upstairs musical venue/catering space.
The restaurant, Covello said, will be a gastropub with local Hudson Valley flavors and weekly unplugged live music shows.
